The Columbia Medical Special Needs Car Seat is available for children who have outgrown regular car seats. It will fit children from 20-102 lb. and up to 60" (152 cm) tall.
The Columbia Medical Special Needs Car Seat is very light at only 11 lb. (5 kg). The car seat cover is washable and comes in a choice of two fabrics. The tether must be installed for children 65 pounds (29.5 kg) and over, but not necessary for children under 65 pounds (29.5 kg). Tether is included as standard equipment with the car seat. The Child TheraPedic™ Positioning Seat, CM2000, has been crash tested and has met the following reguations for use as an approved car seat:
U.S. federal safety standard FMVSS #213
NOW approved for use in all Canadian Providences EXCEPT Quebec and New Brunswick
European safety standard ECE R44.03
The Child TheraPedic™ Positioning Seat, CM2000, is also FAA Approved for use on US airlines.

The Columbia Medical Special Needs Car Seat Stroller Base with Seat Tilt Option is an accessory item listed to the right that is designed for use at the mall, playground or theme park with the Columbia car seat. This adds to the versatility of the Columbia Car Seat, providing multiple uses.

A padded pommel on a swing away hinge for the positioning seat made of matching upholstery. It is triangular in shape and is 4" tall. The width tapers from 2" at one end to 3 ½" at the other end.

Optional block style positioning pads can be purchased to provide further customized seating. They come as a set of four pads that will match the seat upholstery: two pads are 2.5” thick and two pads are 1.5” thick.

The BuckleGuard covers the Columbia Car Seat buckle only. It has not been found to be effective on other types of car seats. Removal is slightly more difficult because it is designed to be childproof. To remove the BuckleGuard, "lift-and-twist" the lid in a similar manner that you would open prescription medicine bottles. This helps children stay securely restrained until an adult chooses to remove the child from the car seat.
