The Beds by George ELECTRIC Slumber Series Bed with Standard Sides (20 inches above the mattress) is an adaptive bed. Some other terms for these types of beds are: Hospital Beds, Institutional Beds or Safety Beds. There isn’t a firm definition for a "safety bed". Beds by George defines them as providing:

Fall Protection: The structure should have some physical barriers to minimize the possibility of that a user could fall out of the bed, whether awake or asleep.

Protection from Entanglement/Entrapment: Beds by George has designed their beds to reduce any gaps or openings that could pose a threat to entanglement or entrapment.

Containment: The Beds by George designs are created to help keep a user safely inside the bed while awake. This can be a controversial topic. However, if a user does not have the ability to get out of a bed independently and/or cannot be unsupervised during mobility because they could harm themselves or someone else, containment may be a necessity for safety.

Regulations: Beds by George meet or exceed the CPSC and FDA standards of safety.

In addition to these practical benefits of Beds by George, they also worry about the emotional and psychological needs of the user, family and caregivers! Beds by George was started by Aaron Clow, a dad who wanted his daughter with special needs to have a bed that was safe and functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. Beds by George offers a range of styles and stains to match most décor! Intense planning of the designs occurs to make sure that and screws and bolts are concealed to make it look like any other piece of furniture in the home!

Quality is another focus for Beds by George! All of their beds are made to order and are hand cut, hand sanded, hand finished by Amish craftsmen. They only use furniture grade boards – no plywood or veneers. And the corner posts are actual 4x4’s – talk about a stable, strong, and safe bed!

The Electric Slumber Series Bed with Standard Sides includes motorized adjustments for the head, knee and foot surfaces of the bed. A simple touch of the button allows for changes in position.

Maximum Head Angle = 70 degrees

Maximum Knee Angle = 30 degrees

Minimum Mattress Height = 16 inches

Maximum Mattress Height = 30 inches

The Dream Series allows for more customization options than the Slumber Series which allows you to choose features that match your home’s décor and your child’s personality.

The Mesh Canopy Top offered from Beds by George provides extra safety to keep users in their bed to prevent them from injuring themselves. The Mesh Canopy Top is stretched over a strong aluminum frame. All side and the top of the Mesh Canopy Top are made with mesh. The borders are covered with a vinyl reinforcement. The Mesh Canopy Top bolts to the top of the bed posts. This adds about 15 inches of height. Since the side doors of the bed open, the Mesh Canopy Top does not.
