Children with special needs often require support to sit with a well aligned posture. Upright sitting promotes engagement in social situations, learning, therapy activities and fun! Providing necessary support in sitting translates into energy that can be used to focus attention, improve upper extremity functional skills and participate in social exchanges. Providing the perfect balance of support, freedom and comfort allows children to be relaxed and attentive and assists them in reaching their potential. But what if you have purchased a seating system and your child’s needs changed? One of our most popular items is the Special Tomato Soft-Touch Liner. The contoured seat and back cushions provide exceptional support and promote good posture while sitting. The Soft-Touch Liner can be attached to most seating systems including but not limited to the following: strollers, highchairs, dining room chairs, restaurant chairs, and classroom chairs. If ankle/ foot position becomes an issue, The Adaptive Engineering Lab has designed an Ankle Positioner and a Foot Positioner that can be mounted on any flat foot plate or foot rest. And if head control is an issue during upright sitting, the evolutionary design of the HeadPod Head Support System could be the solution. The HeadPod comes standard with a variety of mounting options. This makes it a universal head support that can be configured to fit onto most chairs, strollers, wheelchairs and standers.
