Sitting is a position that just about everyone uses. There are several types of Adaptive Seating Systems with different features to choose from to meet your child’s specific adaptive equipment needs. You can choose from mobile or stationary special needs seating systems. You can also pick from a variety of tilt-in-space chairs or ones with recline for those who require more support. There are also portable seating options to take with you when you’re out in the community or on vacation.
For children with certain clinical diagnoses, adaptive equipment designed for seating may be beneficial to help them achieve their goals. Always check with your child's therapists before using equipment to make sure that it is appropriate. Some of the clinical diagnoses that might include but are not limited to the following: Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Gross Motor Delay, Spina Bifida, Autism, and Traumatic Brain Injury.
