I Need Help STANDING...
For people who are unable to stand independently without special needs equipment or for whom standing in proper alignment is indicated, standing system special needs products can be used for external support. Research has shown that there are many physiological and psychological therapy benefits of a standing program and special needs products. If you are considering a standing program for someone who has not stood before or who has been immobile for a period of time, then it is always best to contact a physician. Your physician will determine whether there are any contraindications and/or precautions to participating in a standing program.
Children's therapy prodcuts for standing are divided by where the support for standing is needed. Different special needs equipment offer front or back support, mobile support, and others. Depending on the child's therapy needs, the standers offer uses and opportunities for special needs therapy.
For children with certain clinical diagnoses, standers may be beneficial to help them achieve their goals. Always check with your child's therapists before using equipment to make sure that it is appropriate. Some of the clinical diagnoses that might include but are not limited to the following: Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Gross Motor Delay, Spina Bifida, and Traumatic Brain Injury.
