Inspired by Drive’s (formerly Columbia Medical) Ultima™ Bath Transfer System and Ultima Access Bath Transfer System are designed to significantly improve safety and decrease caregiver effort while assisting individuals with special needs with their bathing. Offered in two sizes, medium and large, they are appropriate for children and adults weighing up to 180 lbs. (81.6 kg).

Bathroom safety is a primary concern when caring for a child or an adult with special needs. Assisting a person with physical limitations to shower or bathe can put both the person and the caregiver at risk when attempting to navigate slippery, wet surfaces. By limiting the number of transfers required in the process, the Ultima Transfer System helps everyone stay safe, comfortable, and expend less energy. Appropriate bath transfer equipment can also limit the need for costly bathroom renovations.

The Ultima Transfer System has three components:

1.)    A Seating System (2 options) that comes standard with two positioning belts. Belts attach around the frame through loops and can be placed at different heights to customize and optimize trunk and leg support according to the user’s needs. Independent angle adjustments of backrest and calf rest ensure comfort and appropriate levels of support as well as enhance postural alignment. 

Seating System Options:

• ComfortMesh back, seat and calf rest.
• Access Seat combines ComfortMesh with a polyurethane seating area. The opening in the polyurethane seat enhances bathing access and also allows the system to function as a commode either by rolling the seat over a bathroom toilet or using the Commode Bucket (included as standard).

2.)    A Rolling Base used for the initial portion of the transfer, fits easily through most standard door frames. The four Swivel Locking Casters glide over flooring and thresholds to easily move from bedroom to bathroom and back again. Anti-Tippers are standard on the Rolling Base.

3.)    A Tub Base (2 options) that when connected to the rolling base engages the shuttle function for transfer.

           Tub Base Options:

• Folding Base features two legs in the tub and two outside of the tub and folds for storage purposes.
• Compact Base places all four legs inside the tub, but does not have a folding feature. Compact Base comes standard with a 13 in. Fixed Bridge. An additional (second) Bridge can be purchased during the ordering process if your bathroom set up requires either a shorter or longer bridge. Choices include Fixed Bridge 9 in., Adjustable Bridge 13.5 in. – 17.75 in. or Adjustable Bridge 17.5 in. – 21.75 in. Please Note: most customers will NOT require an additional Bridge.
