HeadPod Head Support System
The HeadPod was created by Shanae S.G. S.L., a company dedicated to the concept of passenger rest based on the innovative and patented concept of Vertical Dynamic Support of the Head. In 2009 Shanae S.G. S.L. began adapting this concept to the needs of the physically impaired and immediately achieved surprising results. Then, after 5 years of research and development, the HeadPod Head Support System became available on the global market. Shanae S.G. S.L. is passionate about and dedicated to innovations in the area of health care. Its aim is to improve the health and well-being of people around the world by providing the means to adopt a more physiologically healthy, upright posture. Today Shanae S.G. S.L. is backed by a global patent covering the different facets of a vertically suspended system that supports the head, providing solutions for the comfort and safety of passengers, as well as orthotics and rehabilitation for children with various pathologies of the head and neck such as cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, and traumatic brain injury.
The HeadPod Head Support System works best for children 2 to 14 years of age. It provides support to the head from above through a framework for vertical suspension. In doing so, it enables freedom of movement for the head including rotation. This offers a steady "real world" upright visual field that may not be possible for them to achieve on their own. For those who can hold their head up but are significantly limited by decreased or fluctuating muscle tone or have significant limitations in the strength and endurance of the neck muscles, HeadPod can help by decreasing the amount of energy that is required to hold the head up and steady. Energy that can be put towards making eye contact, engaging in social interactions, learning, eating, interacting with augmentative communication devices and just plain having FUN!
