Meywalk

The Meyland-Smith Company was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1901 by George Meyland-Smith. He was originally trained as a blacksmith and his early work focused on the building of bicycles and bicycle accessories. He later turned to the production and repair of hospital equipment. In 1940, George’s son Henry Meyland-Smith began to work for the company and eventually took ownership when his father passed away in 1951. In the years that followed many different products were manufactured, even the development of motorized bicycles and mopeds. In 1971, Allan Nissen took over the business and began to focus on the production of walkers/gait trainers. In the summer of 2011 Meyland-Smith was bought by Palle Lind Jensen and Jan Sahlertz. The company currently consists of efficient production and administration departments that provide for daily operation and ongoing development of their products which are shipped worldwide. The Meywalk and Miniwalk gait trainers are appropriate for indoor and outdoor use. They provide an assistive lift during the swing-through phase of walking using spring suspension. This feature helps promote a more natural gait pattern. The springs are available in different strengths and are selected according to the weight of the user. Caregivers and therapists appreciate the swing bar that allows them to lower the seat unit to transfer the user in and out of the system, minimizing strain on caregivers. The gait trainers also feature an adjustable trunk and seat support that can be quickly and effortlessly changed for multiple users.
